Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package rapid rise yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • For glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, almond extract, milk, slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and softened butter. Stir in almond extract, yeast, sugar, salt, and egg. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add flour until combined; knead on a floured surface until smooth (about 5 minutes).
  3. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a cloth for about an hour or until doubled.
  4. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread soft butter and sprinkle the filling on top.
  5. Roll the dough tightly from one end, slice into 12 pieces, place in a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), bake rolls for about 20 minutes until golden.
  7. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk until smooth; adjust consistency as needed.
  8. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds before serving.
