  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, soak panko bread crumbs in milk.
  3. Sauté diced onions in butter until fragrant; add minced garlic and cook briefly before cooling.
  4. Combine ground beef, soaked bread crumbs, sautéed onions and garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and salt in a large bowl. Mix gently to combine.
  5. Shape into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet and create a crisscross pattern on top.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes; mix topping ingredients while cooking.
  7. Spread topping over meatloaf and bake until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (about another 30-35 minutes).
