  • 1 ½ cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 12 TBSP heavy cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • â…› tsp salt (for frosting)
  • assorted gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in mini chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for 16 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While cooling, prepare the frosting by beating softened butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  9. Frost the cooled cake and top with extra chocolate chips.
