- 1 1/2 sticks (170g) Unsalted Butter
- 3 double shots (6 oz) Espresso
- 1/2 C (40g) Cocoa Powder
- 1 (3.5 oz) Ghirardelli 72% Cacao Dark Chocolate Bar, chopped
- 1 1/4 C (240g) Light Brown Sugar
- 3 Large Eggs + 2 Egg Yolks
- 1 C (120g) All-Purpose Flour
- 4 C (450g) Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Melt unsalted butter and espresso in a saucepan over low-medium heat.
- Stir in cocoa powder and chopped chocolate until fully melted.
- In a large bowl, mix dark brown sugar, kosher salt, and bourbon vanilla extract.
- Combine melted chocolate mixture with dry ingredients; whisk until smooth.
- Add eggs and yolks; whisk until glossy.
- Fold in flour and baking soda until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before frosting with brown butter buttercream.
