  • 1/4 cup (56 g) unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 large eggs (100 g), at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (92 g) light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp (4 g) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (85 g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • flaky salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. Melt chopped semisweet chocolate and butter over simmering water until smooth; cool slightly.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk eggs with both sugars and vanilla until pale and fluffy.
  5. Incorporate the melted chocolate mixture, then gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Use a cookie scoop to place dough on prepared sheets spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until tops are shiny and crackled; sprinkle with flaky salt immediately after baking.
  8. Allow to cool on sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
